If you're looking for a comprehensive comedy listing, look no further! There isn't one, anywhere. But this is a list of shows that DC / Baltimore comedians and promoters e-mailed us about -- you can usually find a lot of local talent at any event on this calendar. And don't forget about all of the open mics that are running every single week.

We keep track of the headliners at local clubs in the box to the right side of your screen, plus there are some links to other entertainment listings in the upper right. If you're trolling for comedy shows by area, go visit the Venues listings.

Thursday

Zanzibar on the Waterfront, DC Thursday at 7:30. Comedian Mike Brooks hosts "Laugh and Jazz Thursdays." Tickets are $10, table reservations are recommended. Zanzibar site

Coco's Crapshoot Comedy Thursdays, Essex, Md. Thursday at 9:30. Organized by Derrick Meyers. 2 for 1 domestic beer and free beer pong and pool after the show. $5 cover. Coco's MySpace

Luna Del Sea Bistro, Baltimore, Md. Thursday at 8. Parham Productions presents "Throw Down Thursdays" every week (started in February 2008). Parham Productions site

Saturday

Del Rio, Leesburg, VA. Saturday at 10. Booked for a while by Riot Act Comedy. Shows have been running at this Mexican restaurant for years; as of June 2008 it doesn't seem clear from web sources whether these shows are currently running. Del Rio site

July 2008

July 1: Happy Hour Trivia at the DC Improv. Wednesday at 7. The second Improv trivia night! Buy tickets to the 8:30 show (headliner Brett Leake), and you're eligible to compete in the bar trivia contest in the Lounge at 7 (up to 55 competitors, first-come, first-served). Prizes for the best teams, and reserved seating in the main showroom for everyone who competes. Hosted by Chris White. You can get more details at the Improv site.

July 1: "Top Shelf" at Solly's Tavern, DC Tuesday at 9. Presented by DC Comedy 4 Now. Corner of 11th and U NW. DCC4N blog

July 10-12: Larry XL at the Comedy Factory Thursday-Saturday. Larry brings the thunder to Charm City this weekend, along with fellow Larry, Larry Lancaster. Factory site

July 12: Chris White's "I Take Requests" at the DC Improv Lounge. Saturday at 8. The third performance of Chris' show features trivia, videos, stand-up and some kind of special finale. July 18: AGITCOM! at the DC Improv Lounge. Friday at 8. Jake Young, Eli Sairs, Aparna Nancherla, Tyler Sonnichsen, Seaton Smith, and Eric Moberg. Tickets are $10 and available on dcimprov.com or by calling the box offi e at 202-296-7008.

July 18: Brittany's, Woodbridge, Va. Friday. The 3rd Friday of every month there's a showcase at this Woodbridge restaurant/bar. Organized by Jim Pate. Brittany's site

July 19: "An Evening of Laughter," Forestville, MD. Saturday at 7:30 (doors open 6:30). Tickets $20. Skiba, Chris Thomas and TuRae perform at the Suitland High School (5200 Silver Hill Rd., Forestville, MD). There's an afterparty in DC, too. To purchase tickets visit www.envisions1.com/events

July 31: New Talent Night, Magooby's Joke House Thursday at 7:30. Tickets are $7. You can get all the sign-up info for this event at the Magooby's site.

August 2008

August 7-9: The DC Comedy Fest
