Rent the Improv Lounge
The smaller showroom at the DC Improv is available for rental by performers who want to produce their own show. At the request of the Improv, we're posting the basic rental terms below. You can read more about the Lounge and see some photos at the DC Improv Web site. If you're interested in renting the space, e-mail Allyson Jaffe (allyson at dcimprov.com).
Attention Local Comedians!
The DC Improv Comedy Lounge is currently available for rent to those interested in producing their own comedy shows. A written proposal must be presented to The Improv and will be reviewed
by management for approval. The terms are:
Fees and Contracts
- The Improv receives 50 percent of ticket sales or $300 per show, whichever amount is greater.
- The $300 per show is a guarantee that must be paid in advance to the Improv. This fee covers use of the Lounge for one show and one server; also, for this fee, the DC Improv is responsible for providing appropriate A/V equipment in the lounge. The fee also covers door taxes.
- The Improv will take the guarantee from the ticket sales. If ticket sales do not meet the guarantee fee one week prior to the event, the purchaser is responsible to pay the guarantee up front to secure the event.
- A signed contract between The DC Improv and the Purchaser is required for rental.
Ticket Sales and Pricing
- Ticket prices for the event are set by the Purchaser at the time the contract is agreed upon.
- Tickets to the event must be purchased through the DC Improv's ticketing system, either online, over the phone or at the DC Improv box office. All advertising by the DC Improv for the event will be done solely through the ticketing system linked off of dcimprov.com.
- Up to 55 tickets can be sold for the event in advance. The maximum capacity is 60, depending on how the room is arranged the night of the event; the final five tickets (at management's discretion) may be available for purchase at the door.
- Complimentary (free) tickets issued by the performers will be added into the ticket count as part of the occupancy. To ensure seating for any comped guests, their names must be reported to the Improv staff in advance of the show so that ticket counts can be updated. All guests must check in at the will-call window before entering the lounge.
Booking and Promotion
- The DC Improv is not responsible for marketing, promoting or advertising the event, beyond listing the event on the ticketing Web site. Promoting the event is the sole responsibility of the Purchaser.
- The DC Improv is not responsible for booking or paying any opening or guest acts included in the event.
- In advertising for the event, the DC Improv name may be used only as the location for the event. The DC Improv reserves to right to approve any advertising using the DC Improv name.
Room Availability and Amenities
- Lounge rental is subject to availability and the discretion of the management of the DC Improv.
- Lounge space includes the following equipment: stage and lighting, DVD and CD player, two speakers, laptop computer hook-up capability, screen, projector and basic sound board.
